After fifteen years in Paris, the established French furniture dealer Renaud Vuaillat has opened his New York flagship gallery in Chelsea. Twentyfirst/Twentyfirst is located at 551 West 21 Street, in the very heart of the creative artist district.
After designing his own line of contemporary furniture, Renaud was determined to focus his discerning eye on representing only the most intriguing and important designer pieces to be found. For years, Renaud traveled the world in search for extraordinary decorative antiques and Objets D’Arts for display and sale to private clients from his gallery in the heart of Paris’ St. Germain neighborhood.
In 2008, encouraged by his years of success in France with longtime clients including Tony Ingrao, Robert Coturier, Thierry Despont, and Muriel Brandolini, and by his acclaimed refurbishment of the Anthony Todd Gallery in New York City, Renaud decided to reveal his celebrated talent to the U.S. audience. His new gallery space summons elements from all areas of the contemporary art and design world.
Twentyfirst/Twentyfirst presents exquisite limited editions of unique European design objects and furniture. By hosting a group of young cutting edge designers and solo exhibitions of noted creators, the gallery offers a rare rhythm and diversity previously unknown to New York’s contemporary furniture scene. The showroom presents emerging talents and renowned designers alike such as; Francois Corbeau, Hubert le Gall and Julian Mayor.
The space also plays host to fantastical themed events inspired by such whimsical notions as Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast.
